ALUMNI LUNCH IN NEW YORK on 18th April 2010
ST. XAVIER'S COLLEGE MUMBAI ALUMNI/AE LUNCH IN NEW YORK
Dear Alumna/Alumnus,
Greetings from St. Xavier's College Mumbai!
Your Alma Mater has just completed 140 years. We have had year-long celebrations in 2009, culminating in an Alumni Dinner on the 3rd of January this year. We were happy to have a large number of alumni on campus; we felicitated a number of eminent alumni, and released a Commemorative Coffee-Table Book on the College featuring some lovely photographs of our educational infrastructure and activities and a well-written history. Several alumni including some from the U.S. wrote in later, mentioning that they were not informed of the event which they would have liked to attend. We do need to update our database of alumni/ae.
I am presently Principal of the College and am on my way to Mexico for an International Meeting of Jesuit Administrators of Universities and Colleges. Our Vice Principal for Academics, Dr. (Ms.) Vivien Amonkar, is also invited to the Mexico event. We have arranged to travel with a stopover in New York.
It is my pleasure to invite you to an Alumni Lunch on the 18th of April 2010. This will be a chance for all of you on the East Coast and elsewhere in the U.S. to get-together yourselves and with the present leadership of St. Xavier's. While we are finalising the venue at a Manhattan restaurant, we invite you to keep this date free. It will be from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm over lunch. A small contribution to help defray the organisational expenses including lunch would be welcome. You are encouraged to bring your spouse along. A copy of the Commemorative Coffee-Table Book on the College would be available at $100. Those who have seen it, have appreciated the quality.
We would be pleased to share with you through an audio-visual presentation, the recent developments in the College and especially about our efforts to continue the rich tradition of excellence that our faculty and students have been able to achieve. We are on the verge of a new beginning, with the University about to grant us Academic Autonomy to design our own courses, frame our syllabii and have our own evaluation, with the University continuing to award the Degrees. We will be the first such College in Mumbai. At this exciting time, we welcome the involvement of alumni, with your rich international experience, to share with us what you would like to see at St. Xavier's. Our alumni have often appreciated the role that St. Xavier's College has played in their lives. Here is a chance to touch base, once again.
Please let us know principal@xaviers.edu or vivien.amonkar@xaviers.edu if you can come on the 18th of April, so that we can make the appropriate arrangements. Could you pass this message on to other alumni/ae you may know?
All the best with your own work and relationships.
Fr. Frazer sj.
